The Economy update - Beta

 The Economy update - Beta

Hi all, for anyone that hasn't met or seen me around yet, my name is Jakaya. I'm the new MC server Dev. I have been working on a lot of updates for the server as we get it ready for the Public (more on that later). The Major theme for the server has been Economy, as some of you may or may not know we have an in game currency, which prior to my arrival you could get but had no use for. That is no longer the case, and we will go into that throughout this Update Blog.

Wait Money?

Yes, we call them Potato Bucks, and they're represented by a P before your balance. To see how much money you have, you simply type /bal or /balance and if you want to see how you compare in the server /baltop or again /balancetop

How to earn money?

Selling to the server:

There are four new ways to earn money with the new economy update, we will cover most here, however player trading will be covered in a different section so if you're interested in that scroll down.

There are two Major ways you can earn those juicy potato bucks. First you can sell all Ingots, Gems and other valuable mining rewards, as well as all the common mob drops. When you sell this way i.e. to the server, it will "poof" the items out of existence, however, you may get more bucks for your items on the player market instead, more on that further down.

To sell using this method simply type /sell hand and what ever you have actively selected on the hot bar will be sold.

I have provided a comprehensive list below with sale values next to them.

Mob Money:

When killing any mob there is a % chance that it will drop some potato bucks, any player can pick these up and will be automatically added to your account. The values can vary and higher payouts are provided for harder to kill mobs.

Player Trading:

Global Trade:

So for any Ex-RuneScape players, yes we have added the grand exchange to the server its super easy to use and will demonstrate below.

To open the market /M From here the entire interface is GUI based. At the top you can see any active listings, in the example below, RobertsE has listed some raw beef for $1.

To add an item to the marketplace
/m add (amount) Just like trading this will place the iitems active on your hand for example if you wanted to sell 10 obsidian for 100 potatoes bucks simply place 10 obsidian in your hand and run /m add 100.

If you want to see what you have for sale on the market, you can click the piece of paper in the bottom left.

And to collect any earnings from the market click the gold Ingot.

The Market will continue to work whilst your offline as players buy and sell.

Local Trade:

The other Method of trading is using /TradeThis is also GUI based for ease of use, however it only works when your near / next to the player. Once the trade request is sent, the other player needs to accept via typing either /trade accept or /trade deny if they have no wish to trade.

(RobertsE Not included in sale)

Once the other player accepts, you will be presented with the following GUI. Your side is always the left side, simply add any items you're wishing to trade.

If you're paying with potato bucks, you can click the golden nugget, this will prompt you to type the amount in an anvil, make sure to remove the text prior to typing. (It will state this will cost 1XP it will Not charge you to rename)

Once both players are happy, simply click the red block on your side (left) and it will turn green. Once both players have indicated they're happy to complete the transaction, a countdown will begin, you can cancel the transaction by clicking the now green block on your side (left).

PVP:

Put simply killing a player will deduct 10% from that players account and put it in yours please keep in mind that the server rules dictate that PVP must be well reasoned (No murder trolling).

How to avoid scams?
Unfortunately, moderators will not get involved if you have been scammed. So here is some easy tips to help avoid it.

  • Never, physically trade relying on the /pay command.
  • If you don't trust the player, use the Market /m as PVP is allowed.

How to spend Money ?

As covered previously, you can buy and sell from players, but how else can you use those juicy Potato bucks? Well, you can gloat to other players about how rich you are, just hope you're wearing some good armour, as you've just set a bounty on your own head and target on your back. Alternatively, there is a few helpful commands you can now use that cost a few Potato bucks.

Why Beta?
So the observant amongst you may have noticed the Economy update is in beta, this is because at the moment the configuration files aren't finalised. Costs are likely to change, new commands may be added and old commands may be removed or changed.

We also want to focus Jakaya's limited development time on these updates to ensure they're both fun and without glitches. So with that said if you have any feedback or find any issues with the update, please either message Jakaya or a Minecraft Moderator via DM or in #Minecraft-Server.
